How is Haley Lebeuf jewelry made?

Each item from Haley Lebeuf is individually handcrafted in the Austin, Texas studio. One-of-a-kind stones are selected by Haley from local and international lapidary artists. Each of these stones are placed to reflect and enhance their natural beauty.  Traditional jewelery techniques, such as forging and soldering, are used to fabricate each piece. This hands-on approach allows individual changes to be made to nearly every piece.

What is 14/20 gold-fill?

Gold-fill jewelry is beginning to grow in popularity due to high gold prices. Gold-filled jewelry offers many of the same benefits as gold, without the cost. Simply put, 14/20 gold-fill means that there is a layer of gold wrapped around a base metal core, such as brass. 14/20 denotes that the gold layer is 14k and makes up at least 1/20 the weight of the item. It is a great alternative to achieve the beautiful gold color and brilliance or for those with metal sensitivities, while being an affordable investment. Gold-fill jewelry can last 5 to 30 years, even with daily wear. Please note that the gold layer will eventually wear away.

Haley Lebeuf jewelry uses other alloys such as sterling silver and 14k gold-plated brass. Sterling silver, or silver as it is referred to on haleylebeuf.com, is an alloy of pure silver and other metals, such as copper, to create what is commonly found in almost all silver jewelry. It is often stamped 925 which means that it contains 925 parts out of 1000 pure silver. 14k gold plate is an electroplating process done in-house that bonds 14k gold to brass. We are happy to recondition or replate any of your Haley Lebeuf jewelry that needs a little TLC to get back to its full glory! For information on how to do this, contact us.

What is Argentium silver?

Argentium is a fairly modern alloy of silver. It replaces a very small amount of copper found in the traditional alloy of sterling silver with geranium. This slight alteration changes the properties just slightly so that the silver has a higher level of tarnish resistance. It contains the same amount of pure silver and is still referred to as sterling silver. We hope this change creates a better end result for you!

What is Druzy?

First of all, it's beautiful! Second, it is a quartz crystal formation commonly found on agates and jaspers. It's a naturally occuring feature; the result of pressure and heat when the rock was formed. In some cases it is the crystalline formation on some semi-precious stones such as garnets. The small facets of the druzy catch and reflect light to create a dazzling effect. Designs from Haley Lebeuf featuring the druzy will often be natural, but some stones have been enhanced by dyes or plating to create more unusual or brilliant colors. These enhancements should last the life of your jewelry.
